About the event

Nicole J. Georges is a queer graphic memoirist and illustrator, and author of the award-winning graphic memoirs Calling Dr. Laura & Fetch. Nicole has been leading self-care comics workshops and grounding exercises for 6 years, expanding this practice into the workbook section of Emotional Support Animals.


Mona Tavakoli is a Los Angeles-based drummer, singer and performer who believes in making music that unites, elevates and connects. She drums for Cyndi Lauper, Ebi, and Raining Jane, and is the co-director of LA's Rock Camp for Girls & Gender expansive youth.


To celebrate the release of Emotional Support Animals, a book of therapeutic comics and worksheets, Nicole and Mona will talk about graphic medicine, art and healing, and will lead attendees through a comics-based grounding exercise.


  • Paper and pens will be provided to participants who'd like to leave with their own emotional support animal and exercise.
