Poetics of Resistance: A Community Reading & Fundraiser
Join us for the culminating event of Poetics of Resistance, a five-week poetry workshop led by award-winning author Kim Young.
Over the past several weeks, participants have gathered to read poets including Audre Lorde, Martín Espada, Joy Harjo, Ilya Kaminsky, Don Mee Choi, and others while developing their own original work in response to a central question: What might poetry make possible in moments of confusion, uncertainty, and social upheaval?
The result is an evening of readings featuring new poems created throughout the workshop—works that engage memory, witness, imagination, grief, joy, solidarity, and the ongoing practice of paying attention.
This event is free and open to the public. Donations are encouraged and will be collected in support of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) and the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), two organizations working to advance immigrant rights, dignity, and…
