About the event
You might define poetry as a form especially adept at navigating two worlds: the topside one with its meat pockets and wind tunnels, alongside the incomprehensible, unseen, and, perhaps, dare I say, more eternal consciousness.
In this five week workshop, students will be invited to use the writing of new poems as a, sort of, transducer, picking up the call, seeing beyond linear time, and engaging a form of poetic telepathy, as Alice Notley has described poetry.
We will explore work by Christian Wiman, Robin Coste Lewis, Diana Arterian, and others, and I will provide writing prompts meant to open a portal so we can channel new signals in our writing. We will spend class meetings discussing the reading and new student writing in workshop.
